Man dies after Sulphur officer shoots him
SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A man has died in a local hospital after a Sulphur police officer shot him Sunday evening.
Sulphur police got a call about a shot fired near a business on Ruth Street around 11 p.m., Louisiana State Police Troop D spokesperson Derek Senegal said.
The complainant described a silver vehicle leaving the area and heading east on Henning Drive, Senegal said. Officers saw a vehicle matching the description in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of Henning Drive with some people standing around it.
Troopers say police began “interacting” with the people around the vehicle and during “the course of the interaction,” one person was shot by officers. Troopers would not elaborate on what the interaction entailed but did say no officers were harmed. The name of the person shot has not yet been released.
