New details emerge in the Common Street shooting

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - No arrests have been made in the shooting outside a bar and convenience store on Common Street this past Sunday in which one person was injured.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said deputies were working an off-duty security detail at a different nearby bar on Common Street in Lake Charles when the sound of gunshots was heard around 3:30 a.m.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they said they learned a woman had been shot in the parking lot that houses Time Loop gas station and the G.O.A.T Sports Bar. The woman had been transported to a hospital out of town before their arrival.

Through their investigation, deputies were led to a home on North Prater Street, where they located the gun believed to have been used in the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing. The owner of G.O.A.T. Sports Bar has reached out to KPLC to clarify the bar had been closed for a little more than an hour when the shooting took place.
