Barricade situation near Enterprise Blvd., 12th St. ends in two men taken into custody
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - A barricade situation involving a heavy police presence near Enterprise Boulevard and 12th Street led to the arrest of two men on Saturday night.
According to Sgt. Larry Moss of Lake Charles Police Department, police received multiple calls from neighbors in the area of gunshots being fired late that evening, and when they arrived, the suspects had already gone back inside the home. Officers attempted to make contact with the people inside, who police identified as three Hispanic men.
Police said the suspects refused to come to the door and turned all the lights off in the home, but one officer noticed a suspect inside had a firearm.
Police could be heard speaking Spanish to the subject saying “Come out with your hands up” trying to get them to surrender. After repeatedly asking the suspects to come out, the officers locked down the area and activated a SWAT team, along with a negotiator, due to the nature of the initial calls to police and the fact that an officer had observed one of the men with a weapon.
Upon the arrival of the SWAT team, the three men inside the house exited peacefully and were taken into custody. Two of the individuals were charged with illegal use of dangerous instrumentalities, and both were transported to the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
We asked Lake Charles Police for the names of the individuals involved, but they were unable to provide them at this time.
