LSU loses to Florida State in season opener 45-24
ORLANDO, Fla. (WAFB) - No. 5 LSU lost their season opener in Orlando, Florida at Camping World Stadium against No. 8 Florida State by a score of 45 to 24.
Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels went 22/37 for 347 yards including one touchdown and one interception. Daniels also had 15 carries for 64 yards and led the team in rushing. While Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis went 23/31 for 342 yards, including four touchdowns and one interception.
The Seminoles outscored the Tigers 21 to 7 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
“We must’ve thought we were the two-time defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs or something. We were mistaken,” said LSU Head Coach Brian Kelly after the game.
LSU has lost in the season opener for four straight years now.
The Tigers will now face Grambling State on Saturday, September 9 in Tiger Stadium at 6:30 p.m., before heading to Mississippi State on September 16 to begin SEC play.
