LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Louisiana Medicaid advises members that they may receive an automated phone call in the next few weeks asking them to update their contact information. The caller ID will show “Louisiana Department of Health,” and this is not a scam.

Louisiana Medicaid Executive Director Patrick Gillies said Medicaid will begin reaching out to members via mail to complete renewals and verify eligibility when the federal COVID-19 public health emergency ends. Gillies said it is important that they have updated phone numbers, mailing addresses and email addresses for all members before this happens.

“These are recorded messages only,” Gillies said. “There will not be a Medicaid representative on the phone and we will not be asking for any personal information.”

Automated calls will go out between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday over the next four to eight weeks, Gillies said.

Members can update their contact information at any time by visiting the Louisiana Medicaid website or emailing mymedicaid@la.gov.
