OCT. 14 ELECTION: What’s on Allen’s ballot?

ALLEN PARISH, La. (KPLC) - Louisiana will elect a new governor this fall.

State residents will vote in the gubernatorial primary election on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023. Numerous other local and state races will also be on the ballot, as well as four constitutional amendments and local tax propositions.

A candidate must receive 50 percent of the vote, plus one vote, to win a race. Runoffs will be held Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, in the gubernatorial general election.

Shall the Parish of Allen, State of Louisiana (the “Parish”), be authorized to continue to levy a special tax of four (4) mills on all the property subject to taxation in the Parish (an estimated $516,200 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years beginning with the year 2023 and ending with the year 2032, for the purpose of improving, maintaining and supporting the Courthouse and Jail of the Parish?
